The Use of Swimming Pool Chemicals
While a pool’s filter system does the work to keep the water clean, it takes chemistry to really keep things safe and sparkling. There are several reasons why it’s important to carefully manipulate the chemical balance in your swimming pool.
- Pathogens, such as bacteria, thrive in water. If a pool is filled with untreated water, it creates the ideal environment for disease-carrying microorganisms to move from one person to another.
- Various parts of the pool can be damaged by water with the wrong chemical balance.
- Improperly balanced water, which can turn cloudy, can irritate the skin and eyes.
At Emerald Spas and Billiards, we recommend Swimmer’s Advantage for all your pool chemical requirements. They’re made in the USA without fillers, and instead contain high-quality ingredients that are designed to give you the best results, with smaller doses.
Swimmer’s Advantage makes it easier, and simpler to make your pool sparkling clean and crystal clear. Whether you need chlorine granules, chlorine sticks, chlorine tablets, copper algaecide, pH booster, pH reducer, oxy shock, or lithium shock, we carry it at our Grand Rapids, Michigan store and are happy to help you plan your maintenance schedule.
Additional Tips For Swimming Pool Care
In order to enjoy your Michigan swimming pool, there are a few tips you should follow to get the most out of your investment. From chlorine to algaecides and filters to vacuums, you’ll find everything you need for your pool at Emerald Spas and Billiards.
Skim
Grab your long-handled skimmer net and use it to get rid of bugs, leaves, and other debris floating on top of the water. This saves you from trying to scoop it out once it reaches the bottom of the pool.
Vacuum
Remove remaining debris with your pool vacuum, making sure you put the vacuum head and hose under the water before you connect it to the filter.
Brush
After vacuuming the bottom of the pool, use the brush to remove film or buildup that’s accumulated on the wall’s surfaces.
Clean the Skimmer Basket
At least once a week, get rid of debris in the basket to allow it to operate more efficiently. In addition, clean out the pump basket at least twice a month.
Check the Filter
This should be cleaned at least once a year, making sure to remove any trapped particles and debris.
