Everything You Need To Know About Olhausen Pool Tables
When you decide that you want to add a pool table to your home game room, it’s not a decision that should be taken lightly. There are many brands out there you could purchase, but at Emerald Spas and Billiards, we recommend Olhausen pool tables and accessories — and here’s why.
The History of Olhausen Pool Tables
In 1972, the Olhausen boys — Butch and Donny — started their own company, moving and re-covering pool tables. The next year, they took everything they had and bought a manufacturing company that was for sale, and that’s when the world changed for them.
The goal the first year was to sell 70 pool tables. Just two years later, they were selling more than 300. Today Olhausen Billiard Manufacturing, Inc. is selling more than 30,000 tables a year in their 250,000-square-foot facility in Portland, Tennessee.
Through it all they’re still family-owned and operated with a dedication to quality, service, selection, value, and keeping it “Made in America.” They’re proud to say that these attributes and four generations in the business have earned their company the title of “The Best in Billiards.”
What Makes Olhausen Pool Tables Different
From the way they’re constructed to the way they look, there are many factors that make Olhausen pool tables “America’s favorite pool table.”
Premium slate — The world’s finest slate is diamond-honed to create an optimal playing surface. They check each piece of slate at their factory for flatness and proper bolt-hole locations.
Accu-fast — Processed with proprietary chemicals and pigments to increase accuracy and produce consistent play, this premium-quality rubber prevent the tendency of rubber to revert to its natural soft state, Olhausen also uses special “anti-reversion” chemicals.
T-nut rail construction — This won’t bend and cross-thread, offers precise alignment and longer thread grip. The easy installation and removal eliminates hollow spots under cushions.
Slate liner — Framing the slate ensures quieter play and reduces the stress on the slate and allows a tighter, faster, professional cloth installation.
Uniliner — Large slate-support area and quick, more accurate installation helps keep slate flat and level and minimizes wood movement. It’s almost twice as strong as other frame construction methods.
Premium wood — Better wood makes for a better table, and Olhausen purchases most of its lumber from the Northeastern US where “slow-growth” trees have tighter grains, which means minimal discoloring.
Factory pre-fit frame construction — Because they’re built in the factory and not in your home, this allows for faster, cleaner installation and allows for triple-check quality control before shipping.
