Find the perfect place to play shuffleboard!
Table Size
Most shuffleboard tables are 16 to 20 inches wide, and range in length from 9 to 22 feet. Choosing the right size table for your home is a little bit like “the chicken and the egg” – you can determine what size table you want based on the available space, or decide where you can fit a table of your preferred size.
Keep both of these things in mind as you shop for shuffleboard tables, and try to meet somewhere in the middle. If your space is relatively limited, you made need to select a smaller table. If you have a ton of room for games, you can buy whichever table you want, and choose its placement based on the model you choose.
Leaving Enough Space
To make sure you can properly enjoy the game, your shuffleboard table needs some breathing room! About 3 feet on either end should be enough for players to stand, and you’ll need some space on either side to get any pucks that fall into the alley (the “gutter” that runs around the table’s playing surface).
When you’re looking at your home’s options and table sizes, add this “buffer” space so you and other players can easily move around it, and enjoy the game without banging your elbows on the wall!
Measure!
When all else fails, measure! If you have an idea for where you’d like to put your table, break out the tape measure to find out exactly how much space you have. This goes for width too, as you won’t want your shuffleboard table to hang into walkways, get hit by doors, or otherwise obstruct the fun you can have playing!
Write down the measurements you take, and pay close attention to the listed dimensions of any table you’re considering.
